    B.O.A.C. de Havilland DH 106 Second 'Comet' 1 G-ALYP Crash into the Mediterranian Sea near Elba Island, Italy 1954 (Jan. 10): Two envelopes to Ireland showing two line handstamp 'DAMAGED BY SEAWATER / COMET MAIL' in red, including 'On Governement Service' envelope from Kuala Lumpur (Jan. 7th) and 'Credit Statement' of 'The Chartered Bank' in Sibu / Sarawak with "London F.S. (Foreign Section) JA ..6. 54" transit cancel on reverse. The cover is believed to be the only known to have survived from the Sarawak mail. The credit statement was part of enclosure with the adjoining 1953 balance statement issued to Mr. G.J.Myles Esq. (June 30 and Dec. 29) Nierinck 540110.rn
