    1841: 1 d. pink envelope cancelled by Maltese Cross in black and mailed to Alcester, Warwickshire cancelled on reverse with large part "12 February 1841" datestamp in red with docketing at left of receipt "Feb 13 / 41" in manuscript and internally "Arthur sends you this envelope as a specimen of the new Royal Postage Stamp". The second earliest example recorded, the 1 d. pink envelope being issued on Feb 10, 1841 and the issue was confined to Post Offices within the London 2 d. Post parameters. Exceptionally rare.rnNote: It should be pointed out that the earliest example used on Feb 10, 1841 is heavily restored.
