    1894: De La Rue Essay for the proposed 2½ d. value, largely as accepted, stamp-size and hand-painted and drawn on thick card (23 x 27 mm.) in India ink with the Red Kangaroo in black ink and in pencil Queen's head in ink and the tablets SOUTH AUSTRALIA and the Duty Plate picked out in Chinese white.
