    1846 (Nov 23): Entire letter from Brisbane to Port Phillip, Melbourne endorsed "Post Paid" and prepaid '1/7d.' in red manuscript alongside fair framed "PAID AT / BRISBANE" handstamp in red - the earliest recorded usage. Reverse with "BRISBANE / ♚  / NEW S. WALES" despatch in black, superb "♚ / GENERAL POST OFFICE / SYDNEY" oval transt (Nov 28) and oval "MELBOURNE / ♚ / PORT PHILLIP" arrival in black (Dec 8). Listed in the Ben Palmer census on page 117.
