    Typographed by De La Rue 1857: De La Rue Die Proof / Essay for ½ d. value on thick glazed card (22.5 x 26 mm.), a very early Proof - the stamp being square rather than rectangular as issued, with the design and background in grey and the legends in black. Some peripheral aging at sides but of great importance - this being the first British Colonial stamp to be entrusted to De La Rue. Rare.rnrnProvenance: Collection Bailey.
