1856: Tampico District 1 r. yellow, two fine examples used on 1857 cover from Tampico to Bordeaux, tied by circular "FRANCO EN / TAMPICO DE TAMALAUPAIS" handstamp in black (Schatzkes fig. 1585). Reverse with British P.O. TAMPICO datestamp (May 2) in red, thence via RMSP "Solent" to St. Thomas and "Panama" to Southampton. Struck in London with "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking and charged at double rate with handstruck '16' décimes due mark on arrival File fold at top but a rare cover.
