1854/57: Campbell & Ferguson half-length 3 d. greenish blue, positions 17-18 with pos. 17 showing retouch under 'C' of VICTORIA clearly, the pair with large margins on three sides and shaved at top, on 1858 entire letter from Melbourne to France endorsed "via Marseille" tied by bold circular '1' numeral in black. Reverse with SHIP LETTER / FREE / GPO VICTORIA in red (Oct 16) and carried on the "Victoria" from Sydney (Oct 11), the "Oneida" from Galle and the P&O "Bengal" from Aden. Circular "AUSTRALIE V. SUEZ" in red (Dec 14), and charged with handstruck '5' décimes due upon delivery in black. An outstanding and attractive cover, #59 in the Palmer Census. Cert.
