    Bourbon cancellations on Sardinian adhesives 1861 (May 16): Sardegna 1861 10 c. 'bruno grigio olivastro', a fresh adhesive with large to enormous margins all round incl. parts of the lower neighbouring stamp, tied by bourbon-style 'ferro di cavallo' handstamp with "CALTANISETTA 16 - 5 61" cds (Sassone  CL = 12 punti) alongside, on cover to Palermo. Reverse with arrival (May 17) cds. 10 centesimi special rate in the Napoletan provinces, first month of usage of Sardinian stamps in Sicily. Signed Em. & A. Diena; cert. E.
