    1841: 1d. red-brown on very blue paper, lettered JC, a superb example with large even margins, tied by numeral '233' in bars of Darlington, on cover directed to the Richmond. Reverse with double-ring DARLINGTON despatch cds (Aug 26, 1851) in blue and arrival cds of the next day in black.
