    1840: 1d. black, plate 3, lettered MC, a superb example with large to enormous margins all round including parts of the upper neighbouring stamp, merely tied by two strikes of MC in red to mourning cover from London to Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The obverse shows a handwritten "Above rate" and is struck by a two-line "T.P / Acton" due handstamp in black. Reverse with London despatch cds (July 23, 1840).
