    1849: Underpaid Cover from Avignon to the Pope in Rome bearing Cérès 1 fr. dark carmine, a fresh and fine example with vivid colour and good to enormous margins, tied by superb grille. Clear despatch cds (April 12, 51) and boxed PD in red alongside, reverse with Marseille transit cds in black and Roma arrival cds (April 18) in red. Some toning of the cover and two filing folds well away from the perfect stamp. The cover was underpaid by 20 centimes, the cover marked in error as being fully prepaid. Signed E. Diena; cert A.
