    1859: 5 c. violet-blue, 10 c. red-brown and 20 c. bright blue, the magnificent three-colour usage on December 1859 cover from Bogotá to Ambalema, with Mauricio Rizo sender's cachet in red at upper left and the adhesives boldly tied by BOGOTÁ opera-glass handstamps in black. Manuscript docketing of receipt inside 'Diciembre 19, 1859'. One of just two recorded first issue covers with a three colour franking and the finer of the two, illustrated in Bortfeldt "Colombia Philatelic Handbook & Catalogue, 1859-1968" on page 11. This famous and exceptional cover has graced many of the finest collections ever formed of this classic country and is one of the paramount rarities of classic South American and World philately.
