    Servizio, official stamps 1874 (Dec 31): Entire official letter from Gallipoli to Castrignano, bearing Official stamp 1875 (Jan) 0.20 l. lacquer, tied by '85' numeral obliterator of Gallipoli with GALLIPOLI despatch cds (... 31) alongside. Reverse with ALESSANO transit cds of January 1st, 1875. Opened out for display, the transit datestamp proves the usage of this servizio stamp already on December 31, 1874 in Gallipoli, one day prior to its official first day. Cert. Bottacchi (2002).
