    PSNC & Messageries Impériales 1869: Cover from Quito to Paris at double rate, franked by 1865/70 1 r. bright yellow-orange, huge even margins all round, tied by "QUITO / FRANCA" cds in black (July 17). Fine British P.O "Guayaquil" cds on reverse (July 25), carried by PSNC Steamer to Panama where struck with three line dates "PANAMA / TRANSIT" datestamp in black (July 29). Transferred to the French Office and carried on "Impéatrice Eugenie" and struck with sine octagonal "PANAMA / PAQ. FR. A No. 1" datestamp (Aug 1) in black (Salles fig. 1413), Charged '24' décimes handstruck on arrival (Aug 24) in Paris. From the original correspondence of eleven covers found at the Granada Exhibition in 1992. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 209. A rare first issue cover to an overseas destination and wonderful quality.
