    PSNC 1870: Entie letter from Serena and mailed at Coquimbo to New York, USA sent stampless with British Post Office "COQUIMBO" cds in black (Aug 18). Carried by PSNC Steamer "Payta" to Callao (Aug 26) cds verso and trans-shipped to the "Coquimbo" to Panama. Struck there with "PANAMA / TRANSIT" circular datestamp (April 3) in black and earliest recorded usage of Panama Exchange marking "12" in black (Parmenter & Gordon record 26 Aug 1870 as earliest date). Struck on arrival (Sept 12) with '24' due marking in black. A fine and scarce entire. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 192. Cert. RPSL (2006).rnProvenance: Collection Malcolm Bentley.
