    Elderedge Line & RMSP 1844 (June 29): Cover from Panama to Tomas C. de Mosquera, New Granada Plenipotentiary in Lima, prepaid '4R' (reales) in manuscript, with superb framed "P.P." and French circular "PANAMA / *" Consular datestamp in red. Carried on the vessel "Portales" to Callao. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 183. Rare and very fine.rnNote: With the absence of docketing, one must assume the cover to be an 1844 usage. However it is known the datestamp broke in 1843 or 1844 and the '43' or '44' slugs were never changed during the life of the cancellation thereafter.
