    Messageries Impériales 1861 (Aug 16): Cover from Montevideo to Prussia endorsed "via Burdeos", franked by France 1853 40 c. orange and 80 c. carmine, clear to good margins, tied by dotted Anchor lozenge with faint octagonal "URUGUAY" Consular datestamp (Aug 16) alongside (Salles fig. 1061). Carried on the "Saintonge" to Rio and thence via the "Estramadure". Red framed "PD" at left and circular "Aus Frankreich Per Aachen / Franco" in red (Sept 20). Manuscript confirmation of sending date written across the cover but an early and scarce cover. Illustrated in Editon D'Or 59 on page 108.
