    British Packet Agency 1853 (July 18): Entire letter from Basseterre, Guadeloupe to a Marine Lieutenant in Cayenne, prepaid '4' (pence) in manuscript and struck with brilliant impression of the "♚ / PAID / AT / GUADELOUPE" handstamp in black on front, the cover displaying well with equally superb double arc "GUADELOUPE" datestamp (July 19) on reverse in black. Faint 'Demerara' transit cds (July 25) alongside. Charming and rare Gi = £ 2'250.
