    Postal Connections to Overseas - USA 1872 (July 20): Entire letter at double rate from Smirna to New York, endorsed "Via Trieste", franked with 1867 5 s. red, 10 s. blue and 15 s. brown, each in horizontal pairs, tied by thimble "SMIRNE 20/7 72" cds in black (Tranmer fig. 10) with framed "Franco" handstamp in red and "NEW YORK PAID ALL" cds (Aug 10) in red alongside. Reverse with oval Triest datestamp. Three file folds affecting three stamps ironed out, but an unusual and very scarce entire. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 479.
