    Postal Connections to Overseas - USA 1863 (Aug 15): Cover from Smirna to Boston, struck with "SMIRNE 15/8" cds in black (Tranmer fig. 4), Aachen Paid (Aug 23) transit cds in red and "BOSTON AM PKT. PAID" arrival cds in red (Sept 7) alongside. Reverse with Trieste transit cds in red. Annotation of '20 / 65' soldi prepaid by the sender in blue manuscript on reverse, with '55' kreuzer noted on front for onward postage beyond Austria. A fresh and fine cover, illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 471.rnNote: The sender paid 20 soldi for the Levant, 10 kreuzer for Austria and 55 kreuzer for Belgium and the shipmail.
