    Competitors of the Austrian Lloyd - Italy 1879 (Aug 19): Cover from Alexandria to Trieste franked with Italian Levant 'Estero' 20 c. orange in a horinzontal pair tied by '234' numeral obliterator, "ALESSANDRIA D'EGITTO / POSTE ITALIANE" (P. Smith Type CD-2) of the Italian post alongside (Aug 19). Reverse with Triest arrival cds. A late usage of this datestamp in its final year of use, mail to Austria not sent by Austrian Steamer is rare. Illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 323.
