Odessa transit (March 19) and  ''Oplatsheno - Paid' handstamp alongside. Reverse with Vienna transit and Triest arrival (April 4) cds's. A fine and most appealing combination cover, illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 315. Signed A. Diena. Cert. E. Diena (1978).rnrnNote: After the completion of the railway line from Odessa to the Austrian border and thereby via Galicia to Berlin in 1872, mail to Germany and in many cases also to Austria and France could be transported by ROPiT vessels via Odessa as quickly as the journey with a Lloyd vessel to Varna, overland with railway to Rustchuk and then up the Danube to Austria. However mail via Russia was slightly more expensive than with the Lloyd.
