    Disinfected Mail 1780 (Oct. 24): Entire letter from Constantinople to Marseilles with manuscript Forwarding Agent 'recue à Constantinople le 30 8bre 1780 & acheminée le 2 9bre Henry David & Cie' notation and 'Netto di fuora Sporca di dentro' disinfection note on reverse (rare in manuscript), obverse with French D'AUSTRICHE and manuscript '34' Sols due.The entire shows traces of vinegar disinfection from outside without the rastel punching. Illustrated and discussed in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 96. rnNote: Disinfection notations at Semlin were introduced in 1779.
