    1875 (June 2): Great Britain 1867 3 d. rose pl. 12, two examples, 1865 4 d. vermilion pl. 11 and 1867 2 s. blue all used on 1875 mourning envelope sent registered from Valparaiso to the care of the Italian Consulate in Sydney, New South Wales endorsed 'via San Francisco' but this deleted and replaced with 'Brindisi', the adhesives tied by two strikes of the "VALPARAISO / C30" duplex (June 2) with two strikes of Valparaiso straight line REGISTERED in black. 'Registered / London' transit in red (July 17) and reverse with Sydney arrival (Sept 11). One 3 d. originally applied around the edge of the envelope but full of character, a delightful and very rare usage. Cert.
