    1861: Cover from Kingstown to the Duke of Polignac in Paris during the stamp shortage period franked by Great Britain 1857 4 d. rose tied by Kingstown "A10" obliterator, used in combination for the balance of the rate (9d.) with superb strike of "♚ / PAID / AT / ST. VINCENT" in red. Reverse with 'St. Vincent' single ring depatch cds in black (Feb 24). Treated as fully paid in transit with 'London / Paid' cds on front (March 16) and oval 'PD' in red.
