    1871 (February): Die Proof for the 1 d. value, Retouched Die II, printed in black on thin hard white wove paper, with reversed "NEW" at top and "3" below the design, the thin paper with some lines from the Plate at left (this is not creasing, see the illustration in the SG Specialised catalogue on page 22) and the corners of the Proof with adhesive washed from where the Proof had been, presumably, placed on card, otherwise fresh and fine. A most appealing Proof of considerable rarity, previously unrecorded in the Karl Louis Card Index Gi = £ 42'000.
