    Mulready Caricatures 1840: Spooner's caricature envelope No. 1, 'Courting' caricature, used example mailed from Bridgenorth to Worcester bearing 1840 1 d. black, pl. VI, lettered HI, ample to large margins all round, tied by fine strike of the Maltese Cross in red. Double arc 'Bridgenorth' despatch cds in red at left (Oct 13) and reverse with large part 'Worcester' arrival cds (Oct 16) in black, minor bends of no importance, a charming usage. Unlisted by Jarvis, Bodily & Hahn in 'British Pictorial Envelopes'; where just three examples are recorded (4 are currently listed but the E. E. Yates listing is erroneous - Yates had no example of a used Spooner No. 1 with a 1 d. black - this cover would restore parity in the listing). Exceptionally attractive usage and very rare. Cert.
