    1840: Mulready 2 d. envelope, stereo a199, a used example from London to Hastings cancelled by superb London "No. 12" in Maltese Cross in black. Reverse, seal removed, with London despatch cds in black (Sept 18, 1843) and Hastings double arc cds of receipt (Sept 19) in black. Slightest of aging but a charming a very rare usage. Just two 2 d. Mulready's recorded in the Karl Louis Card Index with the "No. 12" in Cross, the other being ex Louis Grunin Gi = £ 12'000.rnrnProvenance: Phillips, London, 3 Nov 1988, lot 348.rn                   Collection Herald, Cavendish, Derby, 9 Sept 1994, lot 75.
