    Latakia 1876 (May 4): Entire letter from Latakia to Marseille, franked with 1872 Cérès 30 c. brown, a fine and fresh adhesive, tied by cogwheel "LATAQUIE SYRIE 4 MAI 76" cds (Pothion = 16 points) and framed "PAQUEBOTS DE LA MEDITERRANEE" handstamp in red alongside, reverse with Smyrne transit as well as Marseille arrival (May 19, 1876) cds's. An attractive cover.rnNote: Starting in April 1876, the Gros Chiffres obliterators were abolished and the datestamp was also used for the cancellation of the adhesives.
