    1902/06: Essays from the De La Rue records, sheet headed "Appendix C" and dated "28 June 1906" at top, with Imperforate 1½ d. values (5) all in unissued colours of purple & olive-yellow, purple & green, purple & red-brown, green & olive-yellow and green & yellow-brown; and imperforate 5 s. values in sepia & mauve, olive-yellow & mauve, deep green & green and purple & dull green, this last slightly rubbed, the balance in immaculate and delightful condition, the nine Essays were produced at the request of the Natal Govt. as Essays for doubly-fugitive ink to be used in the future to prevent the stamp's re-use.
