    1917 (Sept 1): Surcharged ½ a. on Turkey 10 pa. green (GPO Building, Constantinople), a fine example used on 'Roffey' cover addressed to the Lieutenant at GHQ in Baghdad, tied by slightly watery 'Bagdad' cds (11.SEP.17) in black. Circular "Passed Censor / D" in red alongside and reverse with F.P.O. No. 55 datestamp of arrival (Sept 11). Just 1'261 stamps issued. Not illustrated in the F. Khalatschy handbook. Slight crease to envelope away from adhesive at upper right, but a delightful and very rare cover.
