    1848: Embossed 10 d. brown, Die 3, two examples each with full margins all round used with two 1855 1 d. red brown, one perf. 14, the other perf. 16, wmk. Small Crown in very differing shades, on 1855 cover from Hexham to Bombay, India at single rate endorsed 'via Marseilles', cancelled by '360' numeral obliterators on despatch. Somewhat flimsy envelope with edge wear and sealed opening tears on reverse, but showing 'Hexham' despatch cds (Oct 18), London cds in red and 'Bombay' arrival (Nov 26) in black. A rare and unusual cover: the sole such mixed franking recorded in the Karl Louis card index. Cert.
