    Austrian P.O.'s in Cyprus 1848 (Jan 25): Entire letter bilingually addressed from Larnaca to Syros endorsed 'per vapore Austr.o di Smirne in Syra', crossed to denote prepayment with fine LARNACA / 25. GEN. datestamp (Tchilinghirian fig. 1) and FRANCA at right (not illustrated in T&S) both in black and Syra cds (Jan 26 / Feb 8g) in black displaying well on flap, charged '10' lepta due in red crayon on arrival. Scarce and fine early entire: the Consular Post Office is believed to have opened in 1845.
