    1847 (Sept 21): Entire letter sent prepaid from La Guayra via London Forwarding Agent 'H. Rudall' to Teneriffe, Canary Islands, struck on despatch with circular CORREOS DE VENEZUELA / LA GUAYRA / FRANCA in red; with annotation of contents "$100 of gold" and endorsed on arrival at Forwarding Agent LE BRUN & DAVIDSON / TENERIFFE with oval cachet in black on reverse; charged for insurance at 5% on despatch "5 rs. Vn." in manuscript at top and '1s.' charged in London and paid, presumably by the Forwarding Agent. A splendid and extremely early Transatlantic Money Letter from South America. Cert.
