    Recess by Bradbury Wilkinson, perf. 14, 14½ 1878/80: 6 d. olive-black, two examples on 1880 double rate combination cover to Wigan tied by "1" numeral obliterators in black with faint PRETORIA / Z.A.R. / ZUID AFRIKA cds below. Cape of Good Hope 1865/76 6 d. mauve (2) applied for onward transmission (Gi. 25) tied by 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' cds's (June). Reverse with Wigan and Hindley cds's (July 4). Unrecorded in the Jorgensen census, a scarce double rate usage but the cover with a few faults and a tad tired.
