    Recess by Bradbury Wilkinson, perf. 14, 14½ 1878/80: 6 d. olive-black, a single example used on 1880 cover to London tied by "13" numeral obliterator in black, with LYDENBURG / Z.A.R. / ZUID AFRIKA cds at left (Feb 7). Cape of Good Hope 1 d. rose-carmine (2) and single 4 d. blue (Gi 29+30) applied and each cancelled in manuscript with circular squiggle. Reverse with 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' cds (Feb 24) and obverse with faint 'London / Paid' in red. Cover #39 in the Jorgensen census. A fine and rare cover.rnrnProvenance: Collection Scott Gallagher.
