    'Mafeking Besieged' on Stamps of the British Bechuanaland 1900 (March 27): Surcharged 6 d. on 3 d. lilac & black, a used example, Type V with 'No Comma after Mafeking' variety, tied to Southbound cover to Manchester, England endorsed from "F. Rosenfield, Bechuanaland Rifles" by MAFEKING / C.G.H. datestamps (March 29) in black. KIMBERLEY squared circle datestamp at left (May 22) and reverse with Manchester cds of receipt (June 16) in black. An extraordinarily rare cover carried by native runner past the limits of the Siege.
