    1907 (May-June): Small Papua Overprint (Type 4), 1 d. black & carmine, wmk. vertical, comb perf. 14 on thin paper, a used horizontal pair, marginal from left of sheet, positions 16-17 on the sheet of 30 subjects, both with variety: "Overprint Reading Upwards", position 16 showing 'Papua.' in margin and vertically over value at right on both stamps, both stamps neatly cancelled by 'Port Moresby' datestamps (Jan 10, 1908) in black. Minor aging on the intact original gum, an extremely rare and fine multiple. Cert. RPSL (1956) Gi = £ 9'000+.rnrnNote: There were two sheets with this variety. All the stamps were cancelled at Port Moresby with the exception of the bottom horizontal row of five. Both sheets were similarly aligned wih slight differences in the overprint alignment for stamps from the same sheet position. One sheet was recorded by R. Simpson in 'Philately from Australia', Vol. VIII, No. 4.
