    1808 (May 12): Entire letter written from Furstenfelden (Furstenwalde) to Pézénas, herault, struck with fine two line 'No. 16. / GRANDE ARMÉE' in red (Reinhardt = 600 pts.). Rated '10' in manuscript due toi pay upon receipt. The letter from a young soldier to his mother tells of his fever (cured by rhubarb and quinine) and that his Division (Gudin's 3rd Corps) camped on the field of the Battle of Zorndorf (Aug 25, 1758) where Frederick the Great beat the Russians.
