    1854/1901: Proof for 1 shilling value in black on wove paper (127 x 172 mm., horizontal crease in paper well below the design), the approved design being inked as illustrated in black and grey on greyish background, at left an albino impression of different wording with "POSTAGE / ONE SHILLING" instead of approved "VICTORIA / ONE SHILLING". The top of sheet with "No. 4 / Impression from the Original Steel Plate" typed in blue ink and underlined, referring to the series number of the Proof, not the number printed. Two (Robson Lowe) or three (Rod Perry) impressions are believed to have been struck from the Original Die on the occasion of the Duke of Cornwall & York's (later King George V) visit to Australia in 1901.
