    Ballon Monté No. 39 1870 (Dec 6): Entire 'Plies Confiés' letter to Arcachon endorsed 'par Ballon Monté', franked by 1870 Siège 20 c. blue, tied by Paris-Bordeaux "PB 2" lozenge in black. Flown from beseiged Paris, probably on the Ballon "Le Dennis Papin" with Arcachon arrival cds (Dec 8) on reverse. Fresh, fine and very rare. Cert. Robineau (2004) Maury = € 6'000.
