    1848 (June): 2 d. indigo-blue, Earliest Impression, position 2 on the sheet of 12 subjects, a sensational used example, octagonally cut with four full margins all round and of resonant deep colour, tied to small piece by large part of framed INLAND handstamp in black. An outstanding impression in a vivid shade, the ink surmounting the diagonal lined background. A wonderful stamp for the connoisseur of classic philately as can be attested by the stamps' provenance and John Rudge's statement 'the ultimate première gravure state'.
