    1854: Embossed Valentine envelope sent 1857 from Lodovico to his beloved Emma in Vienna, franked with Carta a Macchina 45 c. blue, type III, fresh colour and good to large margins all round, tied by "BRESCIA 3/10" cds, reverse with Vienna oval arrival datestamp. The lot includes the full content, written in German, where Lodovico explains his feelings for Emma.
