    Mail from Great Britain via Italy 1871: Cover sent unpaid from Manchester to Patras, Greece endorsed 'via Brindisi' carried at single rate with Manchester despatch cds (Oct 10) and thence (avoiding France due to Franco-Prussian War and it's aftermath) via Germany and the Tyrol to Brindisi, franked on arrival with 1868/72 5 l. green on greenish in a partially separated strip of three, 20 l. blue and 80 l.carmine all tied by 'Patras' cds's (Oct 6, julian). Blue manuscript crayon '115' (lepta) on front for under 15 grams rate. Reverse with Kerkyra and Patras cds's. Minor faults but an attractive franking. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 146.
