    Mail carried on French Paquebots 1870: Cover mailed from Syros to Marseille franked at 1866 Convention rate of 70 lepta (for up to 10 grams) by 1868/71 10 l. orange on blued, 20 l. blue and 1868 40 l. deep mauve on blued all tied on arrival by '2240' gros chiffres of Marseille. Carried on the Paquebot 'Tibre' with octagonal GRECE / PAQ. FR. X No. 1 in black (Sept 29). Framed red PD and and circular 'Grece / Marseille / 1' entry marking (Oct 4, gregorian) in red. A most attractive cover, illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 98, the sole recorded usage on cover of the Large Hermes issue cancelled by a French gros chiffres cancellation.
