1904: OHMS envelope to East London, Cape Colony, struck with oval violet "POST OFFICE / ♚ / ST. HELENA" handstamp in violet (Mabbett type PO.3), with "St. Helena" despatch cd alongside )April 6) in black. Cape Town transit cds at right (May 3), East London arrival on reverse. Three examples recorded of the Crown cachet - Mabbett stated this to be the earliest usage which was erroneous (we have recorded an example on an 1890 registered front to Paris).
