Reverse two 20 pa. stamps paying twice the deficiency, Constantinople arrival (Feb 21, gregorian) cds alongside. Left part of cover missing, one 20 pa. adhesive defective, otherwise an interesting taxation in Turkey of a cover from Eastern Roumelia and franked with Bulgarian adhesives as the unification of Bulgaria and eastern Roumelia in 1885 was not accepted by the Turish government. 1882: 15 st. purple and pale mauve (2) and 10 st. rose and pale rose in vertical pair on registered 1885 cover from Plovdiv to Vienna. The franking is placed on the reverse of the cover, cancelled by three strikes of the double circle Plovdiv cds (Oct 24). Unusually both types of the GABROVO handstamp can be found of this cover, which is a fine example of the 50 st. foreign registered rate. 1882: 25 st. blue and pale blue (2) on second weight 1886 cover Kazanlik to France tied by a green strike of the KAZANLIK twelve bar dumb canceller. The "KAZANLIK" bilingual double circle is also applied on the front of the letter. Following the reunification of Eastern Roumelia with Bulgaria the old postal equipment was still in use for some time. Gabrovo and Roustchouk transit marks document the postal treatment in Bulgaria, two further French transits and an arrival mark complete the postal treatment. The franking is fresh and clean, a fold has been caused during affixing one stamp. The cover is slightly trimmed at the top with a small part of the flap missing. An important cover. 1882: 50 st. blue and rose, diagonally bisected on cover from Plovdiv to Constantinople. The Stamboul arrival cancel dated June 22, 1890, the date on the despatch is somewhat unclear. According to our records there are two further copies of this bisect in existence on cover, which also eminate from Plovdiv with similar characteristics, paying the 25 st. foreign rate with a bisected 50 st. The cover shows some traces of aging, which given its rarity should be of little significance. The lot is accompanied by copies of the other existing bisects. 1574 (Aug. 7): Letter from Françoise la Baume, the court Lady of Catherine of Medici, written in Arc sur Tille (Côte d'Or, Burgundy) and sent to the French Ambassador in Constantinople, concerning the stay of her, Françoise la Baume's son Jean de Saulx Vicompte de Tavannes, who followed the future King Hennry III Duke of Anjou to Poland, and got missed during a revolte of the turks in Transsylvania. He was relieved towards the end of the year (1574) and went to Constantinople.
