Prepaid on despatch with oval framed "BOGOTÁ / FRANCA" in red with "7" reales handstamp below and reverse showing italic "Tarde y Cargada" (Late) in red. Carried on the RMSP "Liffey" to Jamaica where struck with KINGSTON / JAMAICA cds in black (Nov 29) and circular "CARTAGENA" fleuron in red; thence via "Avon" to Havana and "Clyde" to Southampton.     RMSP 1860: 20 c. bright blue, First Stone, a superb large margined example used on 1860 cover from Bogotá to Paris, the addressee's name carefully erased, tied by bold BOGOTÁ eye-glass handstamp in black; pre-paying the postage as far as the British Post Office in Cartagena. Reverse with double arc Carthagena datestamp (May 5) and carried by "Prince" to Colon, "Tamar" to St. Thomas and the "Atrato" to Southampton with London cds (May 28) and framed "GB / 1F 60c." accountancy marking struck in black. Calais entry mark of same day and charged '8' décimes due upon receipt. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 144. Minor faults but a truly marvellous cover, the sole known usage of this issue on a letter to France, indeed the sole recorded Transatlantic usage of this issue. Signed H. Bloch, E. Diena. Cert. MARTHE" datestamp (Aug 4) in black (Salles fig. 1376) and reverse with circular "LIGNE-A / PAQ. FR. No. 3" datestamp of the same day (Salles fig. 1401). Carried on the Paquebot "Louisiane" to St. Nazaire with Paris arrival cds (Sept 4) and charged '10' décimes to pay. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 145. A fine and rare cover.

Reverse, seal removed, with single ring SANTA MARTHA British P.O. cds (March 2) and carried on the Steamer "Solent" to St. Thomas and thence by the "Tasmanian" to Southampton. London arrival (March 10) on reverse and charged "2/-" due to pay in manuscript. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 145. A scarce stamp on mail overseas.

    RMSP 1876: Cover from Medellin to Bordeaux franked by 1870 5 c. orange and 1872 10 c. violet tied by oval framed "MEDELLIN" handstamp in red with faint cds in blue at left (Oct 9). Passed to the British Post Office with "SAVANILLA" cds in black (Oct 16) and carried on the RMSP Steamer "Para". with London transit cds (Nov 13) on reverse and struck with "T" and "1-10" accountancy marking. Calais transit also tying the 5 c. (Nov 13) and manuscript "1-70" accountancy at top and thus charged "17" décimes handstruck in black. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 146. A splendid and rare cover, the sole recorded mixed issue combination of these issues.

    RMSP & PSNC 1865 (Dec 31): 'Sobreporte' cover from Bogotá to Guayaquil, Ecuador franked by Colombia 1865 10 c. violet and Sobreporte 25 c. black on blued paper tied by "BOGOTÁ" oval handstamp in black, used in combination with Great Britain 1865/73 4 d. vermilion pl. 7 and 1 s. green pl. 4, tied by "C62" obliterator in black. Single ring British P.O. SANTA MARTA cds on reverse (Jan 29). Carried by the RMSP British "Solent" to Cartagena and Colon. Struck with double arc PANAMA British P.O. transit (Feb 5) and thence by PSNC Steamer to Guayaquil. The Sobreporte 25 c. paying the fee for the British stamps to be added at the Consular Office in Santa Martha. A couple of minor wrinkles as to be expected.     RMSP 1881: The famous registered cover from Cartaghena to Breslau, Germany franked by the extraordinary combination of Great Britain 1870 1½ d. lake pl. 3, 1881 1 s. orange-brown pl. 13 and unlisted 1880 4 d. grey-brown pl. 17 (two examples, unrecorded by Stanley Gibbons used in Colombia), the first two stamps tied by bold "C65" obliterator (error of number of C56) and the 4 d. tied solely by "REGISTERED" in black. Repeated REGISTERED at upper left and single ring CARTHAGENA cds (March 2) adjacent. Carried on the RMSP "Don" to St. Thomas. Oval 'Registered / London' in red (March 30) and German registration label 'Vom Auslande über / Bahnp. 10 Verviers-Cöln'. Reverse with Breslau arrival cds (April 1) and a further strike of the straight line 'Registered' handstamp. A remarkable and rare cover: the sole recorded usage of the 4 d. grey-brown in Colombia and one of just five recorded covers with the "C65" error.
