    PSNC & RMSP 1870: Mourning envelope from Quito to Paris, franked by 1865/70 ½ r. dull blue, worn impression, margins touched to fine on three sides, tied by "QUITO / FRANCA" cds in black (July 30). Faint British P.O "Guayaquil" cds on reverse, carried by PSNC Steamer to Panama where struck with circular "PANAMA / TRANSIT" datestamp in black (Aug 20). Thence by the RMSP "Tyne" to St. Thomas and the "Atrato" to Southampton. Struck with framed "GB / 1F 90c." accountancy mark and thence via Calais (Sept 14) to Pais, where charged '12' décimes handstruck in black. From the original correspondence of eleven covers found at the Granada Exhibition in 1992. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 209. A rare first issue cover to an overseas destination. Certs. P.     PSNC & Messageries Impériales 1869: Cover from Quito to Paris at double rate, franked by 1865/70 1 r. bright yellow-orange, huge even margins all round, tied by "QUITO / FRANCA" cds in black (July 17). Fine British P.O "Guayaquil" cds on reverse (July 25), carried by PSNC Steamer to Panama where struck with three line dates "PANAMA / TRANSIT" datestamp in black (July 29). Transferred to the French Office and carried on "Impéatrice Eugenie" and struck with sine octagonal "PANAMA / PAQ. FR. A No. 1" datestamp (Aug 1) in black (Salles fig. 1413), Charged '24' décimes handstruck on arrival (Aug 24) in Paris. From the original correspondence of eleven covers found at the Granada Exhibition in 1992. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 209. A rare first issue cover to an overseas destination and wonderful quality.

Reverse with Lima arrival cds (Nov 10) and internal docketing confirming ship's name. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 209. A fine and most attractive entire. Signed Calves.

Reverse with double arc British P.O. "GUAYAQUIL" datestamp (Oct 2) in black and carried by PSNC Steamer to Panama, whete three line dated "PANAMA / TRANSIT" applied (Oct 5). From Colon by RMSP "Nile" to Plymouth, with London transit (Oct 30) in red. Thence via Calais to Paris and charged "23" décimes handstruck in black. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 210. Carried on PSNC Steamer to Panama with three line dated "PANAMA / TRANSIT" (May 5) and thence on RMSP "Nile" from Colon to Plymouth. 'London / Paid' transit cds (May 29) in red. Faults incl. part flap missing and stamps backed for display after originally folded around envelope, but a scarce and appealing make-up of the 1/7½ d. rate.
