1723: Alvise III Sebastiano Mocenigo (1662–1732) the 112th Doge of Venice (1722 to 1732). Vellum manuscript. Born into one of the most important families (the House of Mocenigo) of the Venetian aristocracy, he was a famous Doge of the Republic of Venice in the 18th century, when the power of Venice started to decline. 1854 (July 27): Entire letter from Firenze to Torphins, Scotland bearing 1851 1 cr. carmine on greyish with primarily good to huge margins (just touched at right) and horizontal strip of four 4 cr. green on greyish with good to huge margins (affected by vertical file fold), tied by FIRENZE cds's and London transit cds in red, framed PD in black and French "TOSC. Pt DE BEAUVOISIN 1 AOUT 54" entry cds in red alongside. Reverse with circular ABERDEEN and framed BANCHORY, both transit cds's (Aug 3) in blue as well as very scarce boxed TORPHINS arrival handstamp.
